Oral Sharing Guidelines

 Show & Tell
  • An item of your choice
  • No food, pets, weapons (or weapon-like)
  • Nothing valuable (accidents to happen)
  • It has to fit in your backpack.  If it is too big for your backpack, please take a photo and bring that with you instead of the actual item
  • Some ideas may be a favorite book or toy, a souvenir from a trip, something that tells about your family or culture, something that represents a favorite sport or hobby
  • Be prepared to tell why you chose to share it with the class and what it tells about you.
  • Your presentation should be at least one minute long, but not longer than two minutes.

Monthly Topic
  • Must turn in the outline
  • Be prepared to share the information on the outline without having to read it from your outline

Book Note (See below for more details and monthly genres)
  • You must have your notecard in order to present
  • Share the name of the book and the author and your recommendation about whether or not you think your friends should read it

Poetry Recitation
  • You will be reciting a memorized poem of your choice
  • The poem should be at least eight lines long and should not be a familiar song or nursery rhyme
  • You may choose a poem about a season or a holiday, a topic we are studying in class, or a poem that goes along with the monthly topic, or a poem by a favorite author, or even a poem you wrote yourself!
  • You may not use the same poem more than once throughout the year
  • You must provide a printed our hand-written copy of the poem to your teacher before you begin
